Creating a Personal Development Plan for Entrepreneurs with Mastermind.com: Elevate Your Success

By Ali Aungst

Hey. I want to jump right into this one.

If you’re like every single entrepreneur I know, you want to make more progress. More money. More growth. More staff. More customers. And you want to do it right now—or ideally have it all done by YESTERDAY! 🙂

We’re not greedy—we’re just all about that GROWTH!

But I’m going to be real for a quick sec.

Do you have a personal development plan?

And no, you can’t say that post-it note with a few goals on it that’s stuck to your computer monitor counts. (Nice try!)

Like a real plan

One with mapped out goals…

And deliverables…

And timelines…

And accountability…

If you don’t, that’s totally ok! Don’t sweat it. We all start somewhere.

Or maybe you’ve made a plan before, but it just didn’t seem to stick. You didn’t follow through and ended up ditching it.

Again, that’s ok!

It’s never too late to start a plan for your personal development.

I’m going to show you how to create a personal development plan for entrepreneurs.

Because a development plan is one of the best ways to elevate your success as a business owner.

So buckle up!

We’re going to talk about the power of planning—and how Mastermind.com can help YOU take the next step forward in your business.

Make Planning Fun Again!

No one really likes to sit down and plan. Ugh. I get it. You’d rather be checking things off your list. Getting stuff done.

Let’s face it. Planning can be kind of boring with a capital B.

Or maybe you are a big planner. You actually thrive on it! Good for you. But it seems most people would rather get something done. Focus on a task. Make progress on something with immediate results…

Instead of sitting down at a blank screen or with a blank sheet of paper and planning.

If you’re struggling to make or stick to a plan…

I’m going to show you the POWER you can unlock inside yourself when you create one. We all have so much untapped potential that’s just waiting to be unleashed!

Your New Roadmap

If you were taking a road trip from New York to LA (fun!), you wouldn’t just randomly get in your car and start driving.

You would pack what you need. Make some phone calls to people you’re meeting in LA or people you’re going on the road trip with. You’d pack snacks and your phone charger. Your coffee travel mug and water bottle. And most importantly, you’d pull up GPS on your phone and it would give you the exact route.

You would have some kind of plan!

Or if someone was getting married. They’d have a plan to handle all the details of the location, who is there, the food, dress and tux, honeymoon, etc. All the things.

The same for you, your personal growth and business growth.

What’s your plan for reaching your goals?

I know you have big dreams. And maybe you’re already well on your way to the success you want. Or maybe you’re just getting started.

Whatever your goals are, a personal development plan can be the rocket fuel that gets you there.

Maybe you want to hire more people to help with all the crazy day-to-day stuff you’ve got going on.

Maybe you need to buy new equipment.

Whatever it is, you need a plan.

But there’s one thing that is probably keeping you from making the progress you want.

Who is Holding you Back?

YOU. Sorry. But it’s true.

Usually, we are our own worst enemy when it comes to growing.

Human beings tend to make a bunch of progress on something, and then we crave the comfortable.

We fall into a routine.

And we can lose sight of what we’re really trying to accomplish.

We have to constantly jolt ourselves awake and back into action.

That’s why a personal development plan is so, so important.

It takes the guesswork out of things.

It gives you a daily, weekly, monthly plan you can work to make sure you’re on track.

It’s like a workout program.

Yes, these can be annoying. But they WORK! That’s why people do them. That’s why personal trainers make them for people.

Because a workout plan keeps you focused. It gives you an exact list of things to do, and then you just work the plan.

The other benefit of a real plan is that you can see your progress clearly.

Let me give you just one simple example of this…

50 Books a Year

Let’s say you want to read 50 books in 2025. Maybe you look back on the last year or two and you realize you’re not taking in as much new business info as you’d like. You know you need to read a lot more books on entrepreneurship to grow faster. Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” True!

And you don’t want to just listen to an audiobook on your way to the next business meeting while you’re stuck in traffic.

You want to get some actual big-time reading done!

Without a plan, you’d just end up reading a couple of books here and there and end your year having read only a handful. Maybe when you had extra time during the holidays or something.

But with a plan in place, you can hit these goals. You’ll break down how many books you want to read this year (50). How many books you need to actually finish every week (basically one per week). Then you can see right away how much reading you’ll need to do.

Maybe one hour in the morning or at night before bed will be enough to accomplish this. Maybe you’ll need to do a bit more, or spend certain weeks that are slower reading extra. Maybe you listen to 20 audiobooks and then the rest in hardcopy.

Do you see now how this plan will automatically show you if you’re on or off track to your goal?

That’s the power of having a plan!

And it gets even more exciting when you create a plan for every area of your personal development that you want to level up.

Maybe it’s more socializing or networking.

Maybe it’s more time with your family, partner or kids.

Maybe it’s health goals so you can really boost your energy and get more done throughout the day.

Whatever your personal goals are, now is the time to focus on this and create a plan.

And the Mastermind Business System has everything you need to do this.

Filling In Skill Gaps

Next, let’s take a quick look at how a plan can help you fill in any skill gaps you might have.

Everything in business starts with skills

Think of sports. If Michael Jordan didn’t have the skills to land that ball in the net and fly as high as he did, he wouldn’t be Michael Jordan. He wouldn’t have even made it to the NBA. He developed his skills to an insane level and became one of the best in the world at what he did.

It’s really all about skills. If you’re not where you want to be, it’s time to take a harder look at what skills you currently have and which ones you really need to develop.

Maybe it’s personal skills related to your health or education. Or maybe it’s business skills like marketing, social media and sales.

Whatever skills gaps you have, the best—and fastest!—way to fill those in is with a real personal development plan.

Who do you Surround Yourself With?

The next question I want you to ask yourself is, “Who do I surround yourself with?”

It’s been said so many times, but I’ll say it one more time just for kicks.

Who you are is often the result of the five people you spend the most time with.

Are the people in your life striving for the same thing you are? Do they want what you want? And are they working hard to get it? Do they have their own plans for their future? Or are they spending every weekend binging the latest TV series or movies?

Now, don’t get me wrong. There’s a time and place for a little TV or movies, sports or video games.

But if it’s happening too much, there’s just no way someone will achieve their goals.

Are your friends and family supportive? Or are they constantly telling you you’re crazy, or that you’re dreaming too big? Or, “that’s not possible.”

Are the people in your life thinking big?

If your social or professional group isn’t lifting you up, elevating you, it might be time to get plugged into people who will help you hit your goals.
